International Humanitarian City (IHC), the global humanitarian hub based in Dubai, received yesterday H.E. Mr. Erik Lahnstein, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Norway. H.E. Mr. Lahnstein is a member of the official delegation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway to the UAE. The meeting was attended by IHC CEO Ms Makiya Al Hajiri, the Minister of State, members of the Norwegian delegation, United Nations officials, and representatives of IHC members.
Makiya Al Hajiri, CEO of IHC, welcomed H.E the Minister of State and the accompanying delegation. She shared the various efforts being undertaken by IHC to support humanitarian aid and development and gave a brief introduction of the work carried out by IHC members and their efforts internationally.
The meeting was important for its discussion about the humanitarian efforts and the volume of aid and relief provided by the UAE. It reflected the uniqueness of IHC, and the logistical support it provides to its members – whether the UN agencies or the NGO’s.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the World Food Programme (WFP); the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR); the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA); the UN Integrated Regional Informational Networks (UNIRIN); and the UN Department of Safety & Security (UNDSS) as well as representatives from NGOs and commercial members at IHC.
At the end of the meeting, the guests were given a site visit of the IHC warehouses, home to huge volumes of emergency stock piles and aid relief goods.
