The International Humanitarian City (IHC) participated for the first time in the annual global humanitarian and development aid event, AidEx earlier this month.
The leading international humanitarian and development aid event held annually in Brussels brings together many crucial organizations working in aid delivery together to discuss the sustainability and efficiency of aid delivery, and includes a conference, exhibition and program of practical workshops and product demonstrations to help professionals within the community.
AidEx 2013 hosted over 2,000 professionals from the aid community, and more than 200 suppliers of essential and basic equipment and services for humanitarian and development aid, providing a forum for them to work together to share solutions on improving the delivery of assistance to those in need.
IHC Board Member HE Saeed Hareb represented IHC at the conference and spoke about the role of IHC in promoting sustainability and resilience – the dominating theme of AidEx 2013 – and its unique position as a facilitator of humanitarian and development aid and the world’s largest humanitarian logistics hub. Mr. Hareb emphasized the role of Dubai and its strategic location in fostering sustainable supplies of humanitarian and development aid globally.
IHC was among the exhibitors attracting many visits from NGOs and commercial companies whose representatives discussed collaboration and potential membership in the IHC, reflecting the growing interest of humanitarian actors in operating from the UAE.
