Philanthropists and community development leaders from the UAE and across the region gathered in Abu Dhabi to support the 4th Arab Giving Forum and the 2010 Abu Dhabi CSR Conference. International Humanitarian City (IHC) was represented by its CEO, Ms. Makiya Al Hajiri.
Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, the 3 day event focused on promoting the culture of giving as well as encouraging more corporate social responsibility (CSR) among individuals and companies in the region.
The inauguration honored Her Majesty Rania Al Abdullah, Queen consort of Jordan, and H.R.H. Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal, a member of the Saudi Royal Family, for their philanthropic achievements.
The 2010 Abu Dhabi CSR Conference welcomed a number of industry key players, members of the public, civil society and mass media, and international experts from leading organisations in CSR. It sought to promote social cohesion and sustainable social development in the healthcare, environment, education, culture and volunteering sectors, and ensuring the role of CSR in driving economic development and leveraging the quality of services for locals.
The 2010 edition of the conference was held under the theme “Investing in the Future’ and discussed the integration of CSR into the business strategy, rather than treating it as a set of occasional charitable activities.
It enabled participants to meet international CSR experts; network with key representatives from the private, public, civil society and mass media sectors; and evaluate CSR implementation best practices and standards
