International Humanitarian City (IHC) hosted International Medical Corps’ first Annual Asia Regional Conference in Dubai, UAE from June 9th to 11th. The conference brought together International Medical Corps’ country team members from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Philippines, Japan as well as representatives from Dubai, Washington, Los Angeles, London and Croatia to discuss regional planning for increased outreach and strengthening technical capacity building. The conference focused on innovative ways to continue providing lifesaving health care and related emergency services to those in urgent need anywhere and anytime.
Highlighting its role as a global humanitarian and development organization, International Medical Corps invited an international Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) consultant to provide the team with training on how to mainstream DRR strategies and approaches in emergency response.
International Medical Corps team visited the IHC warehouses during the conference to showcase Dubai’s expertise in transport and logistics for the humanitarian aid and development operations of the UN agencies, international NGOs as well as commercial companies licensed by the IHC and serving the humanitarian sector.
